Wrinkles? Photodamage? Ways to Protect Your Skin This Summer

It’s that time of year again where the sun is out, fun is out.


As we approach the upcoming months of sunshine, however, it’s important for us to remember to take care of ourselves. Here are some tips on how to protect your skin from sun damage this summer.

First things first: sunscreen.

Sunscreen is one of the most important tools to prevent sun damage to the skin. Doctors recommend using it every day, even if it’s cloudy.


Sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher is best, and, specifically, ones that protect against both UVA and UVB radiation. Many people often neglect this lotion, stating that it is too greasy. However, we have tips for that too! After some research, we recommend Neutrogena or Coppertone – two classic brands that will keep you protected without leaving you feeling smothered.

What’s next? Cover up!

Long-sleeved shirts and long pants will grant additional protection from the sun. Though this sounds bundled, fabrics such as cotton and linen are perfect for the summer months as they are both comfortable and breathable.


Additionally, we recommend using accessories such as hats and sunglasses to protect your face, neck, ears, and eyes from potentially harmful sun rays.
